Passengers at Toronto Pearson will have some more diversions while waiting for their flights under a newly announced seven-year contract extension between the airport and Paradies Lagardère.
The travel retail management company intends to refresh and rebrand 21 of its existing shops and restaurants and introduce seven new concepts, according to The Moodie Davitt Report.
“These new concepts allow us to deepen our connection to the community by collaborating with local, small, and minority-owned businesses, ensuring each location reflects the spirit of Toronto through thoughtful design and authentic product assortments,” says Gregg Paradies, CEO of Paradies Lagardère.
The new and refreshed concepts will be a mix of cool local options as well as reliable stand-bys. Global Travel Retail Magazine reports the offerings will include Shops @ The Six, Muskoka Supply Co., and Greetings from Toronto that will feature gourmet treats and gifts from more than 30 Canadian makers, including Totally Toronto Art, Mitchell’s Soup Co., Drip Candle Studio, and The Doodle Diary.
Hip & Humble, a women-owned boutique, will be making its Canadian airport debut and the outdoorsy types will be glad to see Sky to Trail (another airport first), featuring brands such as Herschel Supply Co., KÜHL, Cotopaxi, Yeti and Tentree. Additionally, passengers will be able to shop and browse at The Scoreboard, a Toronto sports team-focused apparel store; RELAY, the travel essentials store; and tech accessories at iStore Express.
“Experiences at airports are shaped by the vitality of the retail offerings," says Toronto Pearson Airport CEO Deborah Flint. "We’re pleased to continue our partnership with Paradies Lagardère to provide travellers with shopping options that range from gourmet gifts, exclusive products, Canadian souvenirs, as well as the ‘got it’ relief for that important item in travel essentials.”
