Air Canada Extends Flexible Rebooking Offer for Sicily

Air Canada has extended its flexible rebooking policy for flights to Catania, Sicily while the island deals with volcanic activity. Spewing ash from Mount Etna caused the Catania-Fontanarossa Airport (CTA) to suspend flights on Friday, Aug. 14 because of limited visibility. The volcano has been showing signs of “energetic activity” since Wednesday, Aug. 12.

With arriving flights still partially limited to 10 aircraft per hour until 12:00 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday Aug. 18, Air Canada is extending its flexible rebooking policy for passengers travelling to and from Catania.

One free change is permitted for passengers whose tickets were booked up to today, Aug. 17, 2026, for travel today and tomorrow. Changes may be booked up to two hours before departure. This applies to group tickets as well. The rebooking window goes until the end of the month, Aug. 31, 2026. 

Rebooking is permitted on Air Canada Operated flights. Customers may also rebook to and from the following alternate Air Canada stations in Italy Rome (FCO), Milan (MXP), Naples (NAP) and Venice (VCE).

Air Canada shared the following information regarding rebooking and fare rules:

Change of Origin/Destination	Passengers may choose to travel to an alternate Air Canada destination, change fee waived but ADCOL applies.
Endorsement	Use ACACTAAUG26 when processing a ticket exchange for GDS issued tickets. Endorsement is not required for NDC and AC Connex issued tickets.
Refunds	As per fare rules.
Group Bookings	If different routings are required for the customers, please create new individual PNRs in your GDS. Once exchanged, please cancel any outstanding group space.
Aeroplan Tickets	Please refer the customer to Aeroplan for handling (refer to Aeroplan - Contacts for the Aeroplan Schedule Change phone number).
