Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) reported modest but steady passenger growth in the third quarter of 2025.
According to new financial results released by the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), the airport welcomed 13.1 million passengers in Q3 — a 2.3% increase over the same period last year — and 35.8 million passengers year-to-date, up 0.7% from 2024.
The report credits growth to domestic travel, which offset a decline in international traffic caused by lower transborder volumes.

“In Q3 2025 we delivered strong growth in the domestic sector, which more than offset the decline in transborder U.S. travel for overall steady growth in passenger volume,” said Deborah Flint, president and CEO of the GTAA. “As we near the end of this quarter, we expect to see continued progress in our year-over-year performance.”
Passenger volumes this year were affected by several operational disruptions, including extreme weather events, a five-day runway closure in the first quarter, and Air Canada's labour disruption during the summer.
Despite these challenges, YYZ reported total revenues of CAD$562.2 million in the third quarter — up 5.8% from the same period last year — while year-to-date revenue climbed 5.7% to CAD$1.57 billion.

Flint said the GTAA remains focused on long-term infrastructure projects that support YYZ’s future growth.
“We are on track to deliver on our 2025 business initiatives, maintaining momentum and driving outcomes, demonstrated by the award of Accelerator program, and the in-flight procurement of the T1/T3 Revitalization and Gateway programs,” she said. “These are critical elements to progressing our strategy that will position us well in 2026.”
The GTAA said it continues to monitor global economic and political conditions and remains prepared to adapt amid ongoing uncertainty.
