Norway Travel Guide

Mountainous regions, majestic fjords, and icy glaciers are just some of the phenomenal features of Norway, the Scandinavian country with endless natural wonders.

You can soak in authentic Norwegian arts and culture, savor the local food, marvel at the natural wonders, and even see the renowned Northern Lights.

Train travel to get around Norway is best, as it is affordable, quick, and efficient. The journey itself is often quite remarkable as you get to see beautiful parts of the country along the way.

You can also hop on a domestic flight, which is fairly affordable in Norway. We recommend this if you need to get somewhere in a hurry.

Buses are another option, and will usually be slightly cheaper than trains, but longer in duration. This is the ideal transport choice to use alongside train journeys for shorter trips from the station to accommodation or sights.

For more interesting mode of transport, a ferry is another option. We used a ferry to get to various parts of the country by water, all while enjoying the phenomenal views along the way.

    • Oslo: The capital is the hub of activity in Norway, with impressive buildings, greenery, and entertainment. It is located in the south, so the weather tends to be a little warmer. We suggest visiting the Oslo Opera House, Viking Ship Museum, The Royal Palace, and more.
    • Bergen: With brightly colored houses lining the coast and set against the backdrop of fjords and mountains, Bergen is a smaller city to visit that holds a great deal of charm and appeal. We think days in Bergen should be spent relaxing along the water and exploring the quaint streets. Attractions and activities include Bryggen, Gamlehaugen, and the Bergen Maritime Museum.
    • Tromsø: If you are eager to spot the Northern Lights, then Tromsø is the best place to visit during the winter months in Norway. The city in Northern Norway has a big city section, but also has endless open space where you can discover natural wonders and try to spot the famous lights.
