Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) has launched a new global campaign.

Called Barbados Remembers Your Name, the campaign begins rolling out across the destination's international markets in September 2026 and will feature stories about repeat visitors and the Barbadians they have come to know over the years.

BTMI says those relationships are a significant factor in the island's repeat visitation. Its Loyal Visitors Club, which recognizes travellers after their 25th visit to Barbados, has more than 500 registered members. Some have travelled to the island more than 100 times.

“We hear from repeat visitors all the time that the people are a big part of why they come back to Barbados,” said Andrea Franklin, Chief Executive Officer, BTMI.

“Over time, they build relationships here. They have people who remember them and places they always return to, and those connections become part of their Barbados experience.”

33 Years of Returning to Barbados

Among the visitors featured by BTMI are Ed and Pat Traver, who have been married for 37 years and have been travelling to Barbados for the past 33.

The couple are members of the Loyal Visitors Club and have gradually gone from week-long vacations to significantly longer stays.

“When we first started coming, we were only visiting for one week at a time. We’d always talk to people and they would say they’d been coming for four or five weeks. We thought, ‘How could people do that?’ Now we’re the ones doing it,” Ed said.

BTMI says the campaign will tell similar stories involving the relationships visitors develop with restaurant owners, vendors, taxi drivers, hotel employees, tour guides and small business owners.

Beyond Traditional Advertising

Anderson King, Director of Marketing at BTMI, said the campaign is intended to focus on an element of the visitor experience that can be difficult to convey through conventional destination advertising.

“We wanted a campaign that could work globally while still feeling unmistakably Barbadian,” King said. “Barbados Remembers Your Name gives us a platform to tell many different stories about the destination, but with that same idea of familiarity and connection running through all of them.”

BTMI plans to continue releasing stories featuring returning travellers and the Barbadians they visit as the campaign rolls out internationally.
