Domestic travel remains particularly strong in parts of Asia. Travellers from China, Thailand, and the Philippines are most likely to stay within their own countries, with Chengdu, Bangkok, and Caticlan ranking as top domestic destinations.
Entertainment-driven travel playing a growing role.
Concert tourism continues to draw travellers willing to fly in and out for live events, including K-pop tours such as Blackpink’s World Tour ‘Deadline’ in Hong Kong and Seventeen’s world tour in Singapore. The Mayday #5525 Live Tour in Kuala Lumpur has similarly driven short-trip bookings among Singaporean travellers.
The company highlighted three common long-weekend travel styles:
- Fun-focused trips, such as group getaways to Bangkok centred on nightlife, food, and events.
- Family-friendly travel, including four-day trips to Chengdu built around attractions like panda reserves and child-oriented activities.
- Quiet escapes, such as solo long-weekend breaks to Nice, aimed at travellers looking to slow down and spend time outdoors.
The data suggests that in 2026, long weekends are less about distance and more about making limited time count—favouring short, flexible trips that fit neatly around work schedules.
