Four Seasons Toronto is teaming up with Toronto-based luxury handbag rental company Zero Collective to give guests and private residents access to a collection of designer bags during the Toronto International Film Festival.

The new offering launches Sept. 8, just ahead of TIFF, which runs Sept. 10 to 20.

The hotel says guests will be able to choose from a collection of rare and difficult-to-find bags from major luxury fashion houses, giving travellers the option of borrowing a designer accessory for a premiere, gala, dinner or night out rather than packing one -- or buying one.

And while the timing is deliberately red-carpet ready, the partnership also reflects a shift in what luxury hotels are offering travellers. Increasingly, the experience extends beyond the room, restaurant and spa into services designed to solve the small problems that come with travelling.

In this case: You packed the dress. You didn't pack the bag.

Four Seasons Toronto says it is the first hotel in Canada to introduce the designer handbag lending concept.

Zero Collective launched in Toronto in September 2024 and operates on a membership model that gives customers access to luxury handbags without having to own them. Its inventory includes new, vintage and pre-owned pieces from labels including Dior, Gucci and Louis Vuitton.

The concept also taps into the growing circular luxury market. Rather than purchasing a bag that may only be carried occasionally, Zero Collective members rotate through its inventory, returning one piece before selecting another.

For Four Seasons guests, it's one less thing to squeeze into the suitcase.

Four Seasons Hotel Toronto returns as an official hospitality partner of the festival and will host its annual TIFF Kick Off at d|bar on Sept. 8. On Sept. 12, the hotel will host the invite-only Road to the 84th Golden Globes event.

The property is also rolling out several film festival-themed food, beverage and spa offerings from Sept. 8 to 20, including a special menu at Café Boulud, cinema-inspired treats at Le Café and an in-room movie-night package.

But for travellers who have ever arrived at a hotel, unpacked and realized the accessory they really wanted is sitting at home, the handbags may be the amenity that gets the most attention.
