The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) has introduced CT X-ray technology at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport (YWG).
The technology is now live on line 4 at the Domestic/International checkpoint.
With the new CT-equipped lane, passengers no longer need to remove permitted liquids, aerosols and gels (100 ml or less), medical devices, or large electronics—including laptops—from their carry-on bags during screening.

The installation is part of CATSA’s multi-year plan to modernize security screening nationwide. Travellers can check an interactive CT X-ray map on CATSA’s website to see where the upgraded systems are currently in use across Canada.
CATSA said it will continue working closely with Winnipeg Richardson International Airport as CT X-ray technology expands to all screening lines. “We are committed to enhancing the passenger experience while maintaining the highest standards of security for travellers at Canada's designated airports."
Nick Hays, president and CEO of Winnipeg Richardson International Airport, called the rollout “an important step forward in enhancing the travel experience for our passengers.”

“This innovation not only improves efficiency at security checkpoints but also reflects our commitment to working with partners like CATSA to bring world-class solutions to YWG,” Hays said. “We're proud to be part of this national initiative that prioritizes both security and convenience for travellers.”
