Travellers passing through security lane six at Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) will be using new screening technology as the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) trials the first in an anticipated nationwide roll out.

“We are proud to be the first airport in Canada to test the brand-new CATSA Plus personalized lane, equipped with CT X-ray technology” says Stéphane Poirier, President and CEO of Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB). “Thanks to this initiative, travelers will experience an even smoother and faster passage through the security checkpoint, just in time for spring break.”

The customized CATSA Plus lane is designed to be efficient in airports with smaller spaces. It allows up to three passengers at the same time to place their things into bins and onto the belt for screening.

Additionally, the CT x-ray technology means that passengers will not have to take out their large electronics, medical devices or permitted baggie of liquids from their carry-on luggage to be screened separately.

The trial at YQB is the first step in a deployment of the CT x-ray that CATSA plans to expand to several airports over the coming years.
