We love their sun and surf, Aussies love our ski slopes, we're both known for our friendly hospitality. It’s not surprising that travel between our two countries is popular. To feed the demand, Qantas is upping its lift between Sydney, Australia (SYD) and Vancouver International (YVR) for the winter 2026 season.
“With these additional flights between Vancouver and Sydney, we’re giving Canadian customers more opportunities to experience everything the city and New South Wales have to offer – whether it’s relaxing on Bondi Beach, exploring the wineries in Southern Highlands, or discovering the stunning landscapes of the Blue Mountains, there is something for everyone,” he added.
Moving from its current three times weekly schedule, Qantas will boost it to a daily service during January, from Jan. 1-24, 2026. On Jan. 25 the schedule shifts to five times weekly until Feb. 8, 2026 before finishing off the season with a four times a week schedule until the end of March.
The move means available seats will increase by 68% from January through March. All services will be operated with Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
The airline emphasizes how Canadian travellers can fly through Sydney and connect onto Qantas’ domestic network, with more than 60 destinations across Australia.
Those flying the other way, to Vancouver can connect onward throughout Canada thanks to Qantas’ partnership with WestJet offering one-stop connections to Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, Victoria and more.
Qantas reports average annual lead-in fares for nonstop roundtrip flights from Vancouver to Sydney start from CAD $1,929.
