The Elora Mill announced the expansion of its accommodations this fall with the opening of the restored Walser Building, a heritage property that has stood in the village since 1851.

Set to welcome guests in October, the project marks the eighth heritage restoration completed on the Elora Mill property. The building will add nine hotel rooms while preserving much of its historic character through a restoration led by Pearle Hospitality in partnership with the Township of Centre Wellington.

Originally built as a manufacturing hub in the mid-19th century, the Walser Building survived multiple fires, changed ownership several times and spent roughly two decades without a roof before Pearle Hospitality acquired it in 2017. The restoration retained the building's original masonry techniques and architectural features while adapting the space for hospitality use.

"The Walser Building has been a part of Elora's story for over 170 years," says Aaron Ciancone, CEO of Pearle Hospitality.

"When we acquired it, we weren't just buying a property; we were accepting a responsibility. This village has trusted us with The Elora Mill for years, and we don't take lightly the responsibility of being entrusted with another piece of its history. Our job is to give this building the future it deserves, while making sure it still feels like Elora when we're done."

The restored building will offer nine guest rooms, including the top-floor Walser Suite, which overlooks the Elora Gorge and includes an outdoor terrace and private dining room.

The main floor will be home to Bardō, one of Pearle Hospitality's restaurants, while the lower level will house the Riverview Room, a meeting and event space designed for corporate retreats and private dining experiences.

Guests staying in the Walser Building will also have access to a rooftop hot tub overlooking the gorge. The rooftop can be reserved exclusively by groups booking all nine hotel rooms.

Located across the river from the main Elora Mill property, the Walser Building will operate as a distinct extension of the hotel while remaining connected to the overall guest experience.

Reservations for October 2026 stays are now open.
