Qantas Appoints Ash Howell as New VP for Americas

Qantas has appointed Ash Howell as Executive Vice President, Americas. Based in Los Angeles, he will be responsible for the airline's commercial and operational activities across the continent, including the United States, Canada, and South America.

This appointment comes as Qantas prepares to launch Project Sunrise, a non-stop flight between Sydney and New York scheduled for 2027. Howell will lead the regional growth strategy as the airline seeks to strengthen its presence in key markets.

Plans for 2025 include the return of the A380 to the Sydney–Dallas route and the deployment of the Boeing 787-9 between Los Angeles and Brisbane.

In Canada, Qantas maintains a direct service between Vancouver and Sydney three times a week. This is its only gateway to the country. No changes are currently planned for the Canadian route.
