Viking has opened bookings for a new 19-day Egypt itinerary that combines a 14-night Nile River cruise with four hotel nights in Cairo.
The “Grand Nile Journey” will debut in 2028, offering travelers a deeper exploration of Egypt’s ancient landmarks and lesser-visited archaeological sites.
The itinerary includes 17 guided tours, with stops at the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Along the Nile, guests will visit the Meidum Pyramid, the Noblemen’s Tombs of Beni Hasan and the remains of the ancient royal capital of Tell el-Amarna.
Farther south, highlights include the temples of Luxor and Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Seti I at Abydos and the temples of Abu Simbel. Guests will also visit the island temple complex of Philae in Aswan and sail the Nile aboard a traditional felucca.
The voyage will take place aboard the all-suite Viking Ra, a purpose-built Nile vessel accommodating 52 guests in 26 suites.
“Egypt has captivated travelers for generations, and we believe there is always more to discover,” says Leah Talactac, president and chief executive officer of Viking. “At Viking, we design our itineraries for curious travelers who want to gain a deeper understanding of the places they visit. Our new Grand Nile Journey reflects that approach, giving guests more time to explore Egypt and experience the many layers of its history and culture.”
The new itinerary expands Viking’s Egypt offerings, which include the 12-day “Pharaohs & Pyramids” itinerary and a 12-day total solar eclipse voyage scheduled for 2027. Viking operates 10 vessels in Egypt and expects to add two more in 2028.
Travelers can also combine the "Grand Nile Journey" with optional extensions to Cairo, Morocco or Jordan.
Through October 31, 2026, U.S. residents can book the new itinerary with reduced airfare, special fares and a $25 deposit through Viking’s fall sale.
