Some new faces will be joining the Toronto offices of the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB). Both Oral Chambers and Sedrecia Francis are familiar with the organization, having worked for JTB in the U.S. and in Jamaica and contributing to the surging tourism growth in Jamaica for 2024.
Chambers comes to Toronto having worked in the U.S. providing business development management to enhance Jamaica as a premier tourist destination for clients and customers there. He will continue this role with an expanded portfolio in Canada, covering the Eastern, Northern, and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) East territories.
Chambers is excited for the new challenge: “I am excited to lend my experience and expertise to our Canadian team and our operation there,” said Chambers. “This is an opportunity to ensure Canadians consider Jamaica as the premier destination to visit for their vacations.”
The team in Canada is equally excited to welcome him, stating, “Oral’s strong work ethic which is matched by his positive and approachable personality have made him a respected and sought-after member of our team,” said Angella Bennett, Regional Director, Jamaica Tourist Board Canada. “We are thrilled to have him join our Canadian team and continue to excel in his role.”
Francis has worked with JTB since 2016. She was most recently the Media Relations Officer in the Public Relations and Communications Unit, in JTB’s Corporate Office in Kingston, Jamaica. Her responsibilities in that role included showcasing the country and its assets to visiting media and content creators. She moves into the role of Business Development Manager for Western Canada.
“I am ecstatic to be given this opportunity to support our team in Canada,” said Ms. Sedrecia Francis. “From my work in my most recent role in the Jamaica office, I can tell you first-hand, that Jamaica is a craveable destination for many visitors looking for a unique and unparalleled experience with sun, sand, sea, and the tranquility as well as the energetic vibe – there’s something for everyone.”
Her enthusiasm is matched by the team already in Canada. “We are excited to have Sedrecia join our Canadian team,” says Bennett. “She has demonstrated dedication and competence in her previous role, and we are equally confident that she will excel in her new role and this next chapter in her career.”
