The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) has approved more than CAD$106,000 in claims to reimburse consumers left out of pocket after two travel companies failed to deliver prepaid services.TICO’s Board of Directors approved 34 claims during meetings held on April 29 and May 27.
The claims, totalling $106,962, will assist 468 consumers through the Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund.The bulk of the compensation relates to the collapse of Temple & Temple Tours Inc., with 31 claims approved to assist 465 consumers.
The approved payout amounts to $104,903. Consumers impacted by this closure have until September 25, 2025, to file a claim.
Further details are available in TICO’s closure advisory.TICO also approved three claims related to Trip Support Inc., totalling $2,059. The filing deadline for claims involving Trip Support has already passed, closing on May 5, 2025.The Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund is designed to protect consumers who do not receive travel services due to the insolvency or bankruptcy of a registered Ontario travel agency, wholesaler, airline, or cruise line. It is entirely financed by the industry and only applies to bookings made through Ontario-registered travel agencies.
