The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) has approved three claims totaling CAD$3,831 from the Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund to assist five consumers who were left without the travel services they had paid for.
The claims include:
Canada Jetlines: One claim for $1,194 covering three consumers. The filing period for any additional claims related to Canada Jetlines closed on March 12, 2025.
Trip Support Inc.: Two claims for a total of $2,637 assisting two consumers. However, some payments were excluded as they covered miscellaneous fees rather than travel services. Consumers affected by Trip Support Inc.’s closure can still submit claims until May 5, 2025.
The Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund, fully financed by the industry, offers protection to consumers who book with Ontario-registered travel agencies and experience financial loss due to a supplier’s insolvency or bankruptcy.
