Australian airline Qantas Airways announced that more than a million customers were impacted by a cyber-attack earlier this month, with phone numbers, birth dates and home addresses possibly compromised.

According to Reuters.com, Qantas officials described the attack as one of the “country’s biggest cyber breaches in years,” with an additional four million customers having their names and email addresses exposed to hackers.

The airline said that investigators have found no evidence that any personal customer data was released, but the company is working with security officials to monitor the situation.

In total, around 5.7 million customers were possibly impacted.

“Since the incident, we have put in place a number of additional cyber security measures to further protect our customers’ data, and are continuing to review what happened,” Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson told Reuters.

Qantas officials revealed that the incident occurred on Monday, June 30, when a cybercriminal targeted a call center and gained access to the third-party platform. The cyberattack has impacted no flights or other operations.
