Marriott International is raising its full-year revenue
growth forecast after reporting stronger-than-expected third-quarter results,
with the hotel giant pointing to continued demand for leisure and business
travel across its global portfolio.
According to Reuters, Marriott now expects worldwide revenue per
available room (RevPAR) to increase between 4.5 and 5% in 2026, up from its
previous forecast of 3 to 3.5%. The company cited resilient travel demand, with
consumers continuing to spend on luxury experiences despite inflation and
ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.
Marriott’s third-quarter performance helped support the
improved outlook, as RevPAR increased 6.5% compared to the same period in 2025,
while reported net income climbed 9% to $794 million. Adjusted earnings per
share reached $3.02, up from $2.47 in the third quarter last year.
“Our global scale, compelling portfolio of brands,
industry-leading Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program and dedicated associates,
together with our robust development pipeline and disciplined execution, give
us confidence in our ability to deliver sustainable, long-term growth,”
Marriott President and Chief Executive Officer Anthony Capuano said.
The United States and Canada led the company’s performance,
recording 7.4% RevPAR growth, while international markets also posted gains,
increasing 4.4%, with Asia Pacific excluding China delivering more than 9%
growth. Europe also reported solid results, while the Middle East continued to
face challenges from ongoing geopolitical conflict.
Luxury properties remained a significant contributor to
Marriott’s growth, with upscale brands including The Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis
recording an 8.3% increase in RevPAR across the U.S. and Canada. However, the
company reported improving demand for midscale and budget accommodations,
suggesting that stronger travel activity is extending beyond the luxury market.
Marriott also continued expanding its global footprint,
adding approximately 20,100 rooms during the third quarter. The company’s
development pipeline reached a record 4,209 properties representing more than
634,000 rooms, while its Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program grew to approximately
309 million members worldwide.
