Royal Caribbean Group’s investment in Sandals and Beaches Resorts could pave the way for major Caribbean expansion, with the cruise company reportedly gaining access to more than 1,000 acres of undeveloped land as part of the deal.
According to the St. Vincent Times, the $3 billion acquisition of a 50 percent stake in the resort operator includes a land bank spanning more than 1,000 acres across the Caribbean.
The properties include undeveloped sites and parcels located alongside existing Sandals and Beaches resorts, creating opportunities for new developments and property expansions.
The resort portfolio currently includes 18 operational properties across nine Caribbean destinations, with three additional resorts under development.
Royal Caribbean CEO Jason Liberty described the undeveloped acreage as one of the transaction’s most valuable components, highlighting the opportunities it provides for future growth.
The acquisition, announced in September, values Sandals and Beaches at around $6 billion, with Royal Caribbean’s investment expected to close in early 2027, pending regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
The partnership will maintain the resort brands’ existing identities and leadership while providing additional resources for expansion.
