Air Canada is temporarily suspending flights to John F. Kennedy International Airport as rising fuel costs tied to the ongoing Middle East conflict continue to pressure airline economics.According to reporting by CBC News, the carrier will pause service from both Toronto and Montreal to JFK beginning June 1, with plans to resume flights on Oct. 25.In a statement shared with CBC News, an Air Canada spokesperson said the decision reflects a broader review of route profitability as fuel prices climb.
RELATED: Cancellations Loom as Jet Fuel Crisis Deepens, IATA Warns“As jet fuel prices have doubled since the start of the Iran conflict and some lower profitability routes and flights are no longer economic, we are making schedule adjustments accordingly,” the spokesperson said.The suspension will affect one daily flight from Montreal and three from Toronto.
Air Canada noted it will continue operating a significant schedule into the New York market, maintaining daily flights to LaGuardia and Newark Liberty International Airport.

Earlier this month, Canadian airlines began consolidating lower-demand routes, trimming overall capacity, and adding temporary surcharges.
