OUTRIGGER Resorts & Hotels observed World Ocean Month throughout June with a month of conservation efforts, culminating in its 10th Annual OUTRIGGER Zone Day at the Waikīkī Aquarium in Hawai'i on June 27, 2026.

Over 20 conservation-minded organizations attended the event with interactive booths. These groups included the Polynesian Voyaging Society, NOAA, Kuleana Coral Restoration, the University of Hawai'i Sea Grant College Program and others.

The highlight? The service-oriented Genki Ala Wai Project partnership, where volunteers rolled over 2,000 Genki Balls, which are mud balls infused with microorganisms that were then tossed into the Ala Wai Canal to clean the waterway.

OUTRIGGER's World Ocean Month initiatives included coral planting and constructing fish houses in Fiji, reforesting mangroves in Thailand, reef preservation in the Maldives, marine debris clean-ups in Mauritius, beach clean-ups in Hawai'i and more.

"From Fiji to Hawai'i, OUTRIGGER's beachfront resorts give us a unique perspective on the vital connection between healthy oceans, thriving communities and meaningful travel experiences," said Monica Salter, VP of Global Communications & Social Responsibility. "Through our OUTRIGGER Zone initiative, we're committed to protecting and restoring the marine ecosystems that sustain these destinations. Caring for our oceans helps ensure these extraordinary places can be enjoyed for generations to come."

The hotel and resort company has been supporting conservation initiatives through its OUTRIGGER Zone program since 2014.
