Air Canada is adding another destination to its European network, announcing non-stop flights between Montréal and Seville, Spain, beginning Sept. 8, 2027.

The seasonal route will be the only non-stop connection between Seville and North America, giving Canadian travellers direct access to southern Spain and the Andalusia region.

Flights will operate three times weekly initially, increasing to four weekly departures beginning Oct. 1, 2027. Service will run through early January 2028 before resuming in February and continuing into June.

"The addition of Seville further bolsters Air Canada’s growing global network and cements Air Canada as the largest airline by seats offered between Canada and Spain. As the only non-stop service between the city and North America, Air Canada's new service will unlock more of Andalusia and the world for our customers and Aeroplan Members while delivering a step-change in global connectivity for Seville," said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, and President of Cargo, at Air Canada.

"Enabled by the next-generation capabilities of our expanding Airbus A321XLR fleet, Seville builds upon recent additions to Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife and marks another unique Air Canada destination in Southern Europe," he concluded.

New Route Takes Advantage of Airbus A321XLR

The Montréal–Seville service will be operated using Air Canada's new Airbus A321XLR aircraft, configured with 14 Signature Class lie-flat seats and 168 Economy Class seats.

The outbound flight, AC958, will depart Montréal at 8:30 p.m., arriving in Seville at 9:30 a.m. the following day. Return flight AC959 will depart Seville at 12:45 p.m., arriving in Montréal at 2:40 p.m.

The service will operate on the following seasonal schedule:

  • Montréal to Seville: Sept. 8, 2027, to Jan. 8, 2028, and Feb. 18 to June 3, 2028.
  • Seville to Montréal: Sept. 9, 2027, to Jan. 9, 2028, and Feb. 19 to June 4, 2028.

Flights are available for booking now through Air Canada and travel advisors.

First Direct Transoceanic Connection for Seville

The new route represents a milestone for Seville, which has not previously had direct transoceanic air service.

“Today, Sevilla is taking a historic step forward in its international connectivity. The arrival of Air Canada means much more than just the launch of a new route; for the first time, our city will have a direct transoceanic connection that will link us to Canada and strengthen our ties with North America," said José Luis Sanz, Mayor of Sevilla.

“This connection marks a new chapter for Sevilla, as it will facilitate tourism, business, trade, and cultural exchanges and help strengthen our position as a major economic and tourist hub in Southern Europe. It is also an opportunity for our business community to continue attracting high-value investment and visitors.”

Known for its historic architecture, flamenco traditions and food scene, Seville also serves as a starting point for exploring Andalusia, including destinations such as Córdoba, Granada and the Costa del Sol.

The route's fall, winter and spring schedule provides an alternative to visiting southern Spain during the peak summer heat.

“We are truly delighted to welcome this new air connection. It marks another important step in strengthening connectivity between Canada and Spain,” said Isabel Martín Benítez, Consul for Tourism Affairs, Embassy of Spain in Canada. “I am confident that Canadian travellers will fall in love with Seville, a city with a unique culture and vibrant spirit, and that this new route will open up opportunities to discover the many wonderful places Andalusia has to offer.”

Montréal's International Network Continues to Grow

The Seville announcement follows several other additions to Air Canada's Montréal network for 2027, including new European routes to Basel-Mulhouse and Dubrovnik.

The airline has also announced year-round extensions of its Montréal services to Tenerife, Lima and Guatemala City.

The new Seville flights will be timed to accommodate connections through Montréal to destinations across North America, the Caribbean and Latin America.

“ADM Aéroports de Montréal is delighted with this new direct route to Seville, one of Spain’s most iconic cities. The addition of this destination, operated by our partner Air Canada, helps strengthen YUL’s role as an international gateway to Canada. It demonstrates our commitment to offering an increasingly diverse network from our airport for the greatest benefit of travellers,” said Karl Brochu, ADM’s Vice President, Airport Operations and Air Services Development.

Passengers connecting through Montréal to destinations in the United States will also have access to U.S. customs preclearance before departure.

The addition of Seville continues Air Canada's expansion into European destinations beyond traditional major hubs, using its incoming A321XLR fleet to serve longer, thinner routes.

Flights are on sale now, with schedules subject to change.
