In celebration of its continued growth in Canada, IHG
Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to extend its presence in the
country with nearly 40 hotels in the development pipeline.
The broadening
of properties will add to IHG’s current portfolio of more than 200 hotels
in Canada as Destination Canada forecasts visitor spending to increase by six
percent year-over-year and reach more than $140 billion in value.
Six additional hotels planned for a 2026 opening include Holiday
Inn, Candlewood Suites and Staybridge properties in Barrie, Aurora East,
Pembroke and Woodstock, building on seven hotels that arrived in 2025, including
a Crowne Plaza in Toronto and four Staybridge Suite properties.
IHG’s fastest-growing premium brand recently signed its
first Canadian hotels in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Niagara Falls. IHG is
also capitalizing on growing regional demand for high-quality midscale
conversions with the Garner brand set to make its Canadian debut in 2027 with
three planned southern Alberta hotels in Red Deer, Medicine Hat and near
Calgary International Airport.
