Many Canadian snowbirds who travel to the Phoenix area in the U.S. will undoubtedly be familiar with the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, in sunny Scottsdale, Arizona. Not only is Fairmont a Canadian company, but with more than 900 rooms and suites, it’s one of the largest resorts in the area, and it is centrally located near many local attractions. However, even top fans of the Fairmont brand might not know of this resort’s special hotel-within-a-hotel option.
The 124 villas that make up the Privado section of the resort are a unique offering of the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. While the resort features 66 Fairmont Gold rooms — a special concierge-level guestroom offering — travel advisors can book these types of rooms at other Fairmont properties. Privado is found only at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, and it is treated as separate from the rest of the resort.

Privado has its own entrance, reception, lounge area and Experience Concierge. While Privado guests can use amenities and restaurants throughout the resort, they have their own section of the resort distinguished by smaller, low-set buildings. Exclusive Privado amenities include its own relaxation pool; complimentary day access to Well & Being Spa for guests 18 years of age or older; complimentary valet parking; complimentary chauffeur service within a three-mile radius and to/from Scottsdale Municipal Airport; and more.
The Privado lobby’s lounge area features snacks and drinks throughout the day, along with a serene porch overlooking the world-class TPC Scottsdale golf course, home of the immensely popular WM Phoenix Open. The lobby is a great spot for groups traveling together to gather for a happy hour, or even for solo travelers to relax and unwind.

Privado accommodations start at 700 square feet. Room types include the open-concept Privado Studio, Privado Suites, Privado Suites With Golf View and Ambassador Suites. Suites include a living space and separate bedroom, and come with a range of amenities, including large bathrooms; private patios; walk-in closets; gas fireplaces; and more. Bathtubs are available upon request in some rooms, as well. Many of the rooms have views of TPC Scottsdale.
Executives at the resort shared that the ability to drive right up to a guest’s suite is a unique perk to many visitors. Some might be celebrities looking for privacy, but the resort’s proximity to the Mayo Clinic also makes this a great option for patients who want a more private residential feel while they are undergoing various treatments.
Regardless of the reason for the visit, upscale travelers generally love to be spoiled. So, advisors who book their luxury clients at this exclusive, hidden gem are sure to impress their customers.
