Despite Reports, Walt Disney World Has No Plans For New Park in Florida

Despite a flurry of recent media reports to the contrary, there are no plans for another new major park in the Walt Disney World complex in Orlando, Florida.

A variety of publications over the past several days, including a report from People, have indicated that planning documents recently released by the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) appear to reveal that Disney may be laying the groundwork for developing a new “major theme park” along with two “minor” parks in Orlando, Florida.

However, these reports are not accurate, according to a TravelPulse review of the recently released 2045 Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Comprehensive Plan, along with reviews of past municipal plans related to Disney and official Walt Disney World news releases from past years outlining its overall expansion plans for the Florida campus.

The recent document release from the CFTOD simply confirms existing Disney plans that have been in the works for more than a decade - a $60 billion investment centered around Disney's current theme parks. There is no new information in the 2045 Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Comprehensive Plan that was just released, regarding new parks, whether major or minor.

Disney officials however, did recently announce that the Florida resort will be rolling out a wave of new shows, attractions, dining spots and land expansions throughout 2025 and beyond, aiming to make “The Most Magical Place on Earth” feel fresher and more exciting than ever. 

Last year also brought about many new developments on the Disney front, with Disney’s international parks introducing bold new expansions and its domestic destinations focused on breathing new life into iconic attractions and hotels.
