Cuba is leaning into its long-standing relationship with Canada as it prepares to host FITCuba 2026 this May, with a hybrid format.
The annual tourism fair will run May 7–9, combining two days of virtual business meetings with an in-person public event in Varadero. The approach allows international partners, including Canadian advisors and operators, to participate remotely, while still showcasing the destination on the ground.
Cuba is actively working to rebuild momentum and strengthen partnerships after a challenging period for the destination.
The first two days (May 7–8) will focus on virtual business sessions, giving tour operators, agencies and airlines access to a dedicated platform for networking and deal-making. Organizers say the digital component is aimed at improving accessibility and efficiency for global participants.
On May 9, the event shifts in person to Josone Park in Varadero, where Cuba will host a public-facing showcase of its tourism offerings, including cultural programming and interactive experiences designed to highlight the destination’s appeal.
The Cuba Tourist Board is positioning this year’s event as both a practical trade initiative and a symbolic moment, emphasizing the long-standing ties between Canada and Cuba — one of the island’s most important source markets.
“Cuba remains a destination of spirit and strength,” said Gihana Galindo, Director of the Cuba Tourist Board in Toronto. “We are eager to strengthen our collaborations and we can’t wait to welcome Canadians once again with warm shores and open arms.”
Registration for industry professionals is available through the FITCuba platform, with organizers encouraging partners to take part in shaping the next phase of tourism to the island.
