Officials from the Disney Cruise Line confirmed that a father and child were rescued after both went overboard near Fort Lauderdale on Sunday.

According to Newsweek, a male passenger was sailing on a four-day Bahamian cruise aboard Disney Dream when he decided to take a photograph with his child, whom he reportedly propped up on a plexiglass wall on the fourth deck.

The child reportedly fell backward into the water below, prompting the father to jump off the side of the ship. Disney officials were immediately notified and issued the emergency code “Mr. M.O.B.”—which means man overboard—over the intercom.

A small rescue vessel was sent to the area where the father and child went overboard and rescued them within minutes. Video of the incident was shared on social media.

Disney Cruise Line released a statement confirming the rescue to Fox 35 Orlando:

“The crew aboard the Disney Dream swiftly rescued two guests from the water. We commend our crew members for their exceptional skills and prompt actions, which ensured the safe return of both guests to the ship within minutes.”

“We are committed to the safety and well-being of our guests, and this incident highlights the effectiveness of our safety protocols.”

Once the impacted passengers were successfully back on Disney Dream, the ship was able to continue its voyage back to Port Everglades, Florida.
