Ensenada, Mexico, is getting a new shoreside village designed to welcome cruise passengers.

Called “Ensenada Bay Village,” the forthcoming destination is a collaboration between Carnival Corporation & plc, ITM Group and Hutchison Ports ECV, which operates the Ensenada cruise terminal under concession from the government of Mexico.

The $26 million project was officially unveiled during a project presentation held on December 5, at the cruise terminal. The destination, slated for completion in roughly two years, will also welcome guests from other cruise lines. It’s expected to welcome up to 9,000 visitors per day, generating approximately 350 direct jobs and 800 indirect jobs. It’s expected to deliver more than $120 million in annual economic impact.

“Ensenada Bay Village represents meaningful investment in Baja California,” says Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, governor of Baja California, Mexico. “This project supports local jobs, expands tourism and highlights the culture and natural beauty that make our state a unique destination.”

Designed to enhance the existing port, the new destination draws from 18th-century California-style architecture. It will feature attractions such as zip lines, river rides, a scenic boat ride, and the signature Dune Rally, as well as chocolate and tequila tastings, Valle de Guadalupe wine and cheese pairings, artisan crafts and relaxation and wellness experiences including thermal springs, the Baby Beach adult pool area and spa offerings.

“This presentation reflects our shared vision to create destinations that inspire pride and prosperity,” says Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “We are proud to highlight a project that celebrates Baja’s culture, supports the local community, and offers guests family-friendly, authentic and memorable experiences.”
