Atlas Ocean Voyages Unveils New Pre-Voyage Land Experiences

Atlas Ocean Voyages, the luxury expedition cruise line known for its intimate yacht-style vessels, today announced seven new pre-voyage land experience programs designed to complement its Kenya and South Africa voyages for guests sailing aboard Atlas Adventurer during the yacht's spring 2029 season. 

Three programs depart from Nairobi, Kenya, including one developed in partnership with the renowned luxury travel operator Abercrombie & Kent and connect to voyages departing from Mombasa. Four additional programs depart from Johannesburg, and one from Cape Town, South Africa, highlighting the region's famous game reserves and winelands. Each program lets guests enhance their expedition experience with an immersive land program before boarding the yacht. 

The land experiences are designed to suit a range of durations and levels of exclusivity, each reflecting Atlas Ocean Voyages' signature standard of boutique luxury.

Mombasa, Kenya

In Kenya, Atlas Ocean Voyages has partnered with Abercrombie & Kent, a pioneer of luxury safari travel for more than six decades, exclusively on the A&K Sanctuary land experience, an eight-day signature journey spanning three private reserves. Atlas also offers two additional land experience safaris, including a four-day introduction to Amboseli and Tsavo East, giving guests more ways to explore Kenya beyond the voyage.

AMBOSELI & TSAVO EAST SAFARI

4 Days / 3 Nights — From $3,679 per person, double occupancy

The shortest land experience is a fast-paced introduction to the country's wild beauty, pairing two nights at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge with a night at Ashnil Aruba Lodge in Tsavo East National Park in Kenya. Guests track big-tusked elephants beneath the snow-capped summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, explore Amboseli's marshes and dried lake beds by open 4x4, and venture into Tsavo East's red-earth wilderness before transferring to Mombasa to join the yacht.

THE A&K SANCTUARY EXPERIENCE

6 Days / 5 Nights — From $12,509 per person, double occupancy

A richer immersion into the Kenyan wild, this pre-voyage land program experience begins with an overnight at Nairobi's JW Marriott before continuing to the exclusive Sanctuary Kitirua Lodge, a private-conservancy retreat bordering Amboseli National Park with uninterrupted views of Mount Kilimanjaro. The program continues to Sanctuary Olonana, perched along the Mara River in the heart of the Masai Mara, for twice-daily game drives in search of the Big Five before an internal flight returns guests to Mombasa for embarkation.

LUXURY SIGNATURE SAFARI

The most exclusive of the Kenya excursions, this signature program traces a rare arc across three of the country's most sought-after private reserves: Sanctuary Kitirua in Amboseli, &Beyond Suyian Lodge in the wilds of Laikipia, and The Ritz-Carlton's intimate safari camp on the Sand River in the Masai Mara. Guests enjoy exclusive-use 4x4 vehicles, a dedicated resident tour director, and unhurried access to some of Africa's most celebrated landscapes, culminating in a scenic transfer to Mombasa to board Atlas Adventurer.

Four Cape Town excursions showcase the range of southern Africa's landscapes, from the vineyards of the Cape Winelands to the private reserves of Greater Kruger and the wilds of the Okavango Delta and Chobe, culminating for one program in a visit to Victoria Falls.

CAPE WINELANDS DISCOVERY

4 Days / 3 Nights — From $3,429 per person, double occupancy

Based at the boutique Le Quartier Français in the heart of Franschhoek, this program pairs a guided Winelands tour of Paarl and Stellenbosch, with tastings at Nederburg, Fairview and Tokara, with a signature Wine Tram experience through Franschhoek's valley. The program concludes with a scenic ascent of Table Mountain by cable car before a private transfer to the Cape Town cruise terminal.

KRUGER SAFARI & LION SANDS GAME RESERVE

4 Days / 3 Nights — From $8,389 per person, double occupancy

Following an overnight in Johannesburg, guests fly to Skukuza and continue to Lion Sands Narina Lodge, an elevated retreat of stilted suites with private plunge pools overlooking the Sabie River. This journey continues to &Beyond Ngala Safari Lodge, set within a private concession inside Kruger National Park with exclusive traversing rights across nearly 15,000 hectares of unfenced wilderness. BOTSWANA SAFARI — OKAVANGO DELTA & CHOBE

The most expansive Cape Town land experience program, this journey travels from Johannesburg into Botswana, beginning at Chief's Camp on Chief's Island in the Okavango Delta's Moremi Game Reserve, one of Africa's most predator-dense wildlife areas. Guests continue to Chobe Chilwero, overlooking the Chobe River and home to the world's largest remaining population of African elephants, before a final overnight at the historic Victoria Falls Hotel and a guided tour of the falls, ahead of a flight back to Cape Town for embarkation.

All seven pre-voyage Kenya and South Africa land experiences are available exclusively to guests booked on a selection of spring 2029 voyages aboard Atlas Adventurer.
