WestJet and Icelandair have signed a reciprocal codeshare agreement.

The agreement was announced at the IATA Annual General Meeting 2026 and remains subject to regulatory approval.

Once implemented, WestJet pax will be able to connect through Keflavík International Airport to access more than 10 destinations across Europe on Icelandair's network, with the convenience of a single ticket and through-checked baggage.

“Strengthening our longstanding partnership with Icelandair marks an important step in expanding choice and connectivity to Canadians. By leveraging Icelandair’s extensive network through Reykjavik, we’re opening more seamless access to Europe while deepening a partnership that delivers greater value and convenience for travellers,” said John Weatherill, WestJet Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer.

“We are proud to establish deeper ties with Icelandair and look forward to connecting our complementary networks in a convenient way for our shared guests.”

The agreement also benefits travellers heading to Canada from Europe and Iceland. Icelandair customers will gain access to WestJet’s domestic network, allowing one-stop connections to destinations across Canada.

“We are pleased to develop our partnership with WestJet as our first Canadian codeshare partner airline to further expand our global network and offer our customers even greater choice and connectivity,” said Bogi Nils Bogason.

“This collaboration simplifies travel between Canada, Iceland and mainland Europe, and enables more seamless journeys across our combined networks.”

Later this month, the airline will launch new non-stop flights to Reykjavik from Edmonton and Winnipeg. Seasonal summer service between Calgary and Reykjavik has also returned for the 2026 travel season.

Those routes will be supported by the new codeshare arrangement, providing Canadian travellers with onward access to Icelandair’s European network beyond Reykjavik.
