Updated to include information about the new Winnipeg-Reykjavik route.

WestJet announced new non-stop flights from Edmonton (YEG) and Winnipeg (YWG) to Reykjavik, Iceland (KEF), launching in June 2026. The routes mark the airline’s first direct connection between the Prairie cities and Iceland, operating once weekly through the summer season.

“Edmonton remains a vital cornerstone of WestJet's network. The addition of new non-stop service between Edmonton and Iceland reaffirms our commitment to maintaining strong global connections for Albertans,” said John Weatherill, WestJet executive vice-president and chief commercial officer.

April Crane, WestJet Vice-President, Communications and Engagement noted that the route is one of connection for the many Manitobans who claim Icelandic descent. "Just as Winnipeg plays a vital role in WestJet's history, this route also holds a special meaning for Manitoba's Icelandic community, while expanding the province's international reach."

“Our summer 2026 schedule focuses on creating smart, sustainable connections while ensuring the city remains a key part of our Western Canadian network.” says Weatherill.

According to the airline, the new Iceland service is part of WestJet’s broader summer 2026 strategy to expand Western Canadian connectivity to international destinations.
