Vancouver International Airport (YVR) was named Best Airport in North America at the Skytrax World Airport Awards.YVR also climbed in the global rankings, placing 11th among the world’s top 20 airports, up three spots from 2025 and seven places from 2024.The Skytrax awards are based on votes from more than 13 million passengers worldwide. YVR has now earned the title of Best Airport in North America 15 times in the past 17 years and is the only airport to receive the honour that many times.The recognition comes as the airport reports record-breaking traffic. In 2025, YVR served 26.9 million passengers and handled more than 365,000 tonnes of cargo, the highest volumes in its nearly 95-year history.

As Canada’s second busiest airport, it contributes more than $15 billion annually to Canada’s GDP and supports more than 26,000 jobs on Sea Island, along with more than 119,000 jobs across British Columbia.
