G Adventures has released its list of eight destinations to watch in 2027.

The list includes China, Egypt, Central Asia's Stans, Norway, the Seychelles, Vietnam, the Western Balkans and Greece.

Several destinations are already reporting substantial growth in Canadian bookings, including China, up 163%, Egypt, up 106%, and Albania, which has seen a 117% increase in Canadian passengers over the past 12 months.

China: Canadian Bookings Up 163%

China is seeing renewed interest among Canadian travellers, with G Adventures reporting a 163% year-over-year increase in bookings.

The company's growth comes as China expands its visa-free entry policies, while G Adventures has introduced nine new itineraries to accommodate demand across its travel styles.

Among the new options is the 19-day Signature: China From the Great Wall to Shangri-La, departing in March 2027.

The itinerary takes travellers into China's northwest, following sections of the historic Silk Road and visiting the Mogao Grottoes, Han Dynasty Great Wall ruins and Yadan "Devil City."

Guests will also stay in a hotel designed to resemble a Tang Dynasty desert fortress near the Mingsha Sand Dunes.

Egypt: Solar Eclipse Adds to Growing Demand

Egypt is preparing for a significant tourism event in August 2027, when a total solar eclipse will be visible over Luxor.

Interest in the destination is already increasing, with G Adventures reporting a 106% year-over-year rise in Canadian bookings.

The opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in 2025, along with infrastructure improvements and additional hotel capacity, has also contributed to Egypt's appeal.

G Adventures reports a 16% increase in Canadian solo female travellers booking Egypt trips.

Its nine-day Solo-ish Egypt itinerary includes a Cairo street food tour, lunch at a female-led community project outside Giza, a visit to a Nubian village along the Nile and cycling through Luxor villages with a student guide.

The itinerary also includes dedicated free time for independent exploration.

The Stans: Growing Interest in Central Asia

Canadian interest in Central Asia continues to grow, with G Adventures reporting a 66% increase in bookings to Uzbekistan and a 29% increase to Kyrgyzstan over the past year.

The region is also proving popular among travellers booking the company's premium offerings. Since its launch in January, Central Asia has become the most-booked region globally for National Geographic Signature with G Adventures.

For younger travellers, the company offers the 26-day The Stans: The Ultimate Adventure through the Silk Road.

The itinerary includes hiking in Kyrgyzstan's Skazka Canyon, learning traditional yurt-building techniques from local artisans, sharing meals with local families and visiting Tajikistan's Fan Mountains.

Norway: Northern Lights and Fjord Trekking

Norway is another destination seeing increased demand, with Canadian traveller numbers up 23% year over year, according to G Adventures.

Continued northern lights activity and improved air connections between Canada and Norway are among the factors drawing interest.

For travellers looking to experience the country beyond traditional sightseeing cruises, G Adventures offers its seven-day Norway Fjord Trekking itinerary.

Beginning in Bergen, the trip includes a guided glacier trek on Folgefonna, hiking in the Buerdalen Valley and a full-day trek to Trolltunga, which overlooks Lake Ringedalsvatnet from approximately 700 metres above.

Seychelles: An Active Alternative to Resort Holidays

The Seychelles is positioning itself for more sustainable and active tourism as it works toward its 2028 national tourism roadmap.

G Adventures' new eight-day Geluxe itinerary, Seychelles: Vallée de Mai, Curieuse Island & Shores of Anse Lazio, takes travellers across Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.

Activities include hiking, kayaking and catamaran excursions.

Travellers can choose between hiking the Copolia Trail or observing giant tortoises at Cap Lazare, with accommodation including the A-frame chalets at La Digue Island Lodge.

Vietnam: Expanded Air Access

Vietnam could become more accessible to Canadians following an expanded air transport agreement between Canada and Vietnam that allows direct passenger services between the two countries.

G Adventures currently offers more than 60 Vietnam itineraries, including 15 new trips.

Its 16-day Classic Vietnam: Sapa to the Mekong itinerary focuses on cultural experiences and community visits.

Travellers trek through the northern highlands of Sapa, participate in traditional wax-dyeing workshops with Hmong and Red Dao communities, visit Halong Bay and learn noodle-making at the Oodles of Noodles social enterprise in Hoi An.

The journey also includes traditional rice-paper making in the Mekong Delta.

Albania & Bosnia See Major Growth

Canadian travellers are showing increased interest in the Western Balkans, with G Adventures reporting a 117% increase in passengers to Albania and an 83% increase to Bosnia and Herzegovina over the past 12 months.

The region offers an alternative to some of Europe's more heavily visited destinations, particularly for travellers interested in hiking, history and local culture.

G Adventures' nine-day Hiking in Albania, Kosovo & Montenegro itinerary includes trekking through Albania's Valbona Valley, exploring Kosovo's Rugova Canyon by 4x4, visiting Peja's traditional bazaar and staying in family-run mountain guesthouses.

Greece: Beyond the Islands

Greece rounds out the list, with G Adventures highlighting northern Greece as an alternative to the country's popular islands.

The company points to Mount Olympus and its reported addition to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2026 as another reason for travellers to explore the region.

G Adventures has introduced five new Greece itineraries across different travel styles.

Its Hiking Northern Greece trip takes travellers through mountain landscapes, forests and traditional villages, including the Mount Olympus region.

The itinerary offers a different perspective on a destination more commonly associated with beaches, island-hopping and Mediterranean cruises.

Different Approach to Popular Destinations

While several destinations on the list are experiencing considerable tourism growth, G Adventures says its focus is on encouraging travellers to explore beyond established attractions and directing more tourism spending into local communities.

For Canadian travel advisors, the list also points to opportunities to introduce clients to lesser-visited regions within destinations they may already be considering.
