Air Canada launched free streaming-quality Wi-Fi for Aeroplan members on flights across North America, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Bell sponsors the complimentary Wi-Fi, which allows pax to stream videos, play games, and browse the web on their personal devices from gate to gate. The service extends across Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and Air Canada Express flights operated by CRJ900 aircraft.
“Quality connectivity has become indispensable for all travelers,” said Mark Nasr, Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer at Air Canada.
“Starting today we’re thrilled to offer complimentary Wi-Fi... This initiative underscores Air Canada’s focus on elevating the customer experience, with leadership in providing streaming quality connectivity, at a pace unmatched by other airlines — at home and around the world.”
The airline says Wi-Fi is currently available on 88% of its fleet, with the remaining aircraft — including Embraer E175s and De Havilland Q400s — expected to be connected by early 2026.
Air Canada will become the first carrier to install Wi-Fi on Q400 aircraft, including those flying out of Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport.
International travellers will see similar benefits starting in 2026 when free Wi-Fi for Aeroplan members will be extended to long-haul routes. Until then, free texting will remain available on most international flights.
Passengers can access the free Wi-Fi by ensuring their Aeroplan number is included in their booking or added during check-in. Customers who are not Aeroplan members can still access Wi-Fi for a flat fee or join the program for free online.
The launch is part of a larger investment in passenger experience at Air Canada, including snacks, complimentary alcoholic beverages on select flights, expanded in-flight entertainment options, and a redesigned mobile app. The airline is also modernizing its lounges, with more than 500 new seats planned globally in 2025.
