Last week, TravelPulse Canada joined ACTA’s Immersive Destination Experience to the Dominican Republic, in the company of travel advisors and representatives from ACTA and co-sponsor Air Canada.
We asked Marco Pozzobon, ACTA's Director of Marketing, Communications and Partnerships, about the objectives behind the trips – this year’s offerings conclude with a journey to Portugal’s beautiful Alentejo region November 13-19.
“ACTA Destination Experiences are created for professional Canadian travel agencies and travel advisors who are looking to grow their business and drive profitable growth,” Pozzobon said.

He added that the destination fams “allow participants to immerse themselves in the culture and authenticity of a destination while deepening relationships and improving product knowledge and business development skills.”
During the visit, travel advisors explored multiple luxurious destinations including the popular Majestic Resorts properties in Punta Cana, the newly enhanced Casa de Campo, Los Corales Golf Course, Four Points by Sheraton and Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine.
Pozzobon says ACTA’s partnerships with Air Canada and destination representatives like the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism make the trips a valuable resource for travel professionals.

“This unique partnership aims to empower travel agents with firsthand knowledge of a destination that is extremely popular with Canadians -- and in particular, Punta Cana -- allowing them to better assist their clients in crafting unforgettable experiences,” said Pozzobon.
“By combining ACTA’s commitment to professional development, Air Canada's connectivity and the Dominican Republic's popularity for Canadian travellers, these partnerships underscore a commitment to elevating the travel agent's role and fostering a deeper understanding of the destination and the ability to fully experience the products and services,” he added.
The Dominican Republic is a well-loved destination for North Americans. Tourism is the #1 industry, with Americans and Canadians leading the way. Nearly a million Canadians sought sun, sand and sea in the D.R. in 2019, and the destination’s post-COVID rebound has been among the most impressive in the industry.
Jamie Fox, Senior Manager, Regional Sales for Air Canada, says co-sponsoring the ACTA Immersive Destination Experiences serves more than one purpose.
“This collaboration underscores a commitment to elevating the travel agent’s role and fostering a deeper understanding of this captivating destination that is serviced by Air Canada and loved by many Canadians.
ACTA has three summits coming up this fall: September 14 in Toronto, September 21 in Vancouver, and September 27 in Montreal. For more information and registration, click here.
