Sunwing says it wants to make travel this winter as easy as possible for agents and customers with more flexibility, free COVID-19 medical insurance and critical information on entry and testing requirements.
The tour operator says most all-inclusive winter vacation packages will include the ability to make a one-time change of plans - dates, destination, resort or all three - anytime, with no fees. It will also provide free COVID-19 medical coverage in collaboration with Manulife, along with the option of purchasing more comprehensive coverage starting at $4 per day.
Sunwing has also launched a dedicated Travel Requirements landing page on its website, providing current information on everything from destination entry requirements to insurance options, PCR testing information, a pre-departure checklist and helpful tips for returning to Canada.
"We want to make the travel process stress-free from start to finish, and help Canadians navigate travel requirements and get back to vacationing under our wing," commented Samantha Taylor, Chief Marketing Officer at Sunwing.
With the Canadian government still warning against non-essential travel despite the high vaccination rate, some sunseekers may still be feeling a bit of trepidation. Sunwing hopes its initiatives will allay those fears.
"Agents and customers will have everything they need right at their fingertips on Sunwing.ca, including key content directly on destination and hotel description pages, from entry regulations to on-site PCR testing and COVID-19 coverage," Taylor said.
"Plus, more valuable information and resources are available on our Travel Requirements page. This is all part of our ongoing commitment to provide Sunwing customers with peace of mind when travelling so they can focus on what matters most: enjoying their vacation."
The complimentary COVID-19 medical coverage is offered on most all-inclusive vacation packages that include flights on board Sunwing Airlines, for packages booked by November 11, 2021 for departures between November 1, 2021 and April 30, 2022.
The insurance provides coverage in the unlikely event that customers contract COVID-19 and need to seek emergency medical coverage while on vacation. Customers can also opt to upgrade to the Manulife Pandemic Travel Plan, which comes full trip interruption benefits, including quarantine costs, new return flights if required and more.
Agents and customers can also easily identify which hotels and resorts offer on-site PCR testing with a new 'On-Site PCR Test' icon on applicable hotel pages, in addition to a list of off-site testing locations on the Travel Requirements page. Select destinations have also been designated as Easy Entry Destinations, chosen for their simple entry regulations and limited restrictions such as no inbound testing requirements.
