Sunwing Vacations has added Samaná, Dominican Republic to its destination portfolio, a lesser-known region located on the country's northeastern peninsula.
Samaná, often described as peaceful and off the beaten path, is known for its mix of eco-experiences and natural beauty, including rainforests, waterfalls, coral reefs, and secluded beaches. It also offers prime whale-watching opportunities between January and April, when up to 2,500 humpback whales gather in Samaná Bay.
Sunwing highlights excursions with partner NexusTours, including horseback rides to El Limón waterfall and boat tours through Los Haitises National Park. The area is also well-known for world-class snorkelling, diving, and water sports.
Accommodation options include the newly rebranded Eurostars Grand Cayacoa, formerly the Bahia Principe Grand Cayacoa.
Other all-inclusive options for Canadians include Xeliter Balcones del Atlantico, geared toward long-stay vacations for all ages, and Viva V Samana by Wyndham, an adults-only resort.
Travellers from Montreal and Toronto will be able to access the destination through Sunwing Vacations and WestJet Vacations Québec. Two additional Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts properties will soon be available to book:
According to the release, Samaná combines “untouched natural beauty, enriching local culture, new resort options and the ease of direct flights,” making it a strong contender for Canadians seeking a unique Dominican experience this winter.
