Kensington unveiled its FY25 Kensington Cares Impact Report, reinforcing its belief that travel serves as an engine for positive change by advocating conservation, education and poverty reduction in communities around the world.
The luxury tour operator donates 1% of trip sales to its global partners to advance positive change. In addition, through its One+One model, guests can contribute 1% of their vacation costs to these initiatives.
Last year, the One+One model generated upward of $141,500 in customer contributions.
Kensington Cares recipients include The Explorers Club through the Kensington Conservation Grant, Nekton for its Ocean Rising initiative, First Descent: Comoros expedition, and eXXpedition, whose mission is to “expand its ocean-focused research voyages tackling plastic pollution,” Kensington said.
“Support for Giants of Africa has constructed three new basketball courts in Rwanda, Morocco, and South Africa for thousands of African youth to play on, as well as provided the opportunity for the boys’ and girls’ teams from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to participate in GOA Festival,” the company noted, adding that it is continuing with a long-term sponsorship of the Mara West Foundation, which supports Africa’s Masai Mara communities in the areas such as education and healthcare.
“In FY25, 60% of funding supported Culture and Community initiatives, with additional investment directed toward Exploration and Conservation, and Poverty Alleviation,” Kensington said. “A total of 10 organizations received funding, reflecting a balanced approach across long-term partnerships and targeted projects.”
Added Kensington President Helen Giontsis: “Travelers consistently tell us they want to leave a positive footprint, but they are not always sure how to do that in a thoughtful and credible way. Kensington Cares’ Journey for a Better World philosophy ensures that social impact is an inherent and seamless part of each trip.”
