Fifty-one-year-old Goway Travel says it has used the business downturn due to the COVID-19 pandemic as an opportunity to reinvent itself for the next half-century.

In announcing the changes, Goway founder and president Bruce Hodge quoted Winston Churchill, who said during the challenging days of World War II: "Never let a good crisis go to waste."

"All areas of our company have been refreshed and revitalized," says Hodge. "To make our Destination Specialists better experts and our varied product line more attractive and easier to sell, we have invested heavily in new technologies, which includes a new online training program and a brand new, customized reservation system. Our new interactive digital travel brochure Your Next Journey: The Best of Goway Travel encapsulates our refreshed approach to doing business in a post-pandemic world."

Hodge has also announced the first of Goway's several planned changes to its senior management team.

Anthony Saba has been promoted to Vice President of Downunder & South Pacific, taking over from Shirley Rourke.

Rourke will become Vice President of Groups Only to replace Barbara Norton, who is retiring in the near future. These moves will be gradual and officially take effect on January 1, 2022, in preparation for Goway's new financial year starting April 1, 2022.

Norton will stay on until at least April to assist with the transition as well as to work with Rourke to reinvent Goway's Holidays of a Lifetime program, which will be incorporated into the refreshed Groups Only division.

Hodge says additional changes to the Goway management team will be announced in the coming months as the world continues to open up.
