<p><em></p><p><strong>UPDATE: June 3, 2017, 5:18PM EDT</strong></p><p>37 people have died after a lone gunman opened fire and set the casino at Resorts World Manila on fire. The victims, most of them women, are thought to have died of suffocation inside a bathroom. Of those killed, more than 20 were resort guests and 13 were staff, and more than 70 people were injured.</p><p><strong>UPDATE: June 1, 2017, 7:31PM EDT</strong></p><p>According to a report from <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jun/01/philippines-manila-explosions-and-gunshots-heard-at-manila-entertainment-resort" target="_blank">The Guardian</a>, the suspected lone gunman who stormed an entertainment resort in the Philippines' capital of Manila has shot and killed himself.</p><p><strong>Original Story:</strong></p><p>The Philippines' Resorts World Manila is on lockdown after multiple gunmen opened fire on guests and employees around midnight local time on Thursday, according to <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/International/police-respond-resorts-world-manila-philippines-injuries-reported/story?id=47770870" target="_blank">ABC News</a>. "The incident, involving gunfire and explosions, is still ongoing. If you are near Resorts World Manila and are in a safe location, remain indoors. If you are in Manila, avoid the affected area, follow the instructions of local authorities and monitor local media (including social media)."</p><p>The integrated resort complex boasts a bevy of attractions, including a casino, restaurants, bars, a shopping mall and a theater.</p><p>The situation continues to unfold.</p>
