Marriott International has agreed with The Reef Resorts & Spa to convert a trio of resorts in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, into all-inclusive resorts under its Tribute Portfolio Hotels brand.
The deal includes The Reef Playacar Beachfront Resort & Spa, The Reef 28 Adults-Only Luxury Hotel & Spa and The Reef Coco Beachfront Resort & Spa.
The agreement marks the Tribute Portfolio brand's debut in Playa del Carmen and adds 676 rooms to Marriott’s all-inclusive development portfolio.
Renovations are expected to begin later this year, with all three properties slated to join the brand's portfolio in 2027.
The beachfront Reef Playacar Beachfront Resort & Spa offers 198 rooms in two-story villa-style accommodations as well as a spa and wellness center, a variety of gourmet and casual dining experiences, two pools and a beach club, in addition to elegant wedding and event spaces.
Meanwhile, the exclusive Reef 28 Adults-Only Luxury Hotel & Spa boasts 120 contemporary suites just steps from Fifth Avenue, rewarding adult guests with gourmet cuisine and handcrafted cocktails at the restaurant and rooftop bar. There's also a variety of dining options, a pool, and an exclusive spa with hydrotherapy experiences.
Finally, The 198-room Reef Coco Beachfront Resort & Spa will expand to 358 rooms in early 2028. Renovation highlights will also include five dining options, poolside and beach service, an outdoor pool, a full-service spa and a state-of-the-art fitness center.

By joining Tribute Portfolio Hotels under the all-inclusive concept, we will be able to preserve the unique identity of each resort while benefiting from Marriott’s global reach, its Marriott Bonvoy loyalty platform, and its expertise in the all-inclusive segment," said Montalvo.
"We are pleased to expand Marriott's all-inclusive portfolio in Mexico with the arrival of Tribute Portfolio in Playa del Carmen," added Alonso Burgos, Vice President of Development for the Caribbean and Latin America at Marriott International.
"This agreement reaffirms Mexico’s strength as a key market for Marriott’s growth and highlights the value that owners see in our all-inclusive platform," said Burgos.
