The SO/ Paseo del Prado La Habana is now open in Havana, Cuba. The luxury 250-room property opened briefly prior to the pandemic before closing its doors in March 2020 as global tourism plummeted.
The hotel's operators describe the property as "modern, sophisticated, and bursting with local energy, unlike any other property in historic Havana."
The 250 guestrooms - including eight suites - are spread over nine floors. Every room features floor-to-ceiling views of the sea, the neighboring Malecon, Paseo del Prado, and the hotel's sweeping patio and rooftop pool.
The design of each room is "subtly infused with the creative spirit" of one of three dance styles -- Classical Ballet, Salsa or Son Cubano.
SO/ Paseo del Prado La Habana is located at the intersection of Paseo del Prado and Malecon, just a one minute walk from Habana Vieja (Old Havana), a World Heritage Site filled with ancient monuments, forts, churches and palaces.
A seven-minute walk takes guests to Central Park and the Gran Teatro de la Habana, while a stroll along the Malecon boardwalk to the El Vedado district provides a glimpse into the city's wide avenues, aristocratic villas and vintage American cars.
Originally created as an exclusive label of Sofitel, the SO/ brand can now be found in destinations such as Berlin, Mauritius, Bangkok, St. Petersburg, Singapore, and now Havana.
The brand says its hotels "are places to be and to be seen, thrilling guests with fashionable and entertaining social experiences that capture the vivacity and vibe of the locale."
