Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort has completed a US$38-million reno, marking the Puerto Rico property’s transition from Courtyard by Marriott to the Marriott Hotels brand.

The oceanfront resort in Isla Verde has undergone a property-wide renovation that includes updated guestrooms, a redesigned lobby and social areas, changes to its food and beverage offerings, new service areas and infrastructure upgrades.

The property has 260 private balconies and direct beach access and is located minutes from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport.

The transition follows a 23-year relationship between Marriott International and the property and reflects an expansion of the hotel’s services and amenities.

“This investment represents our confidence in Puerto Rico, in Isla Verde and in the future of tourism on the island,” said Peter Hopgood, President of International Hospitality Development (IHD). “We have worked for years to strengthen this property, and today we celebrate a transformation that allows us to offer a more modern, comprehensive and competitive experience, backed by Marriott’s quality standards and by extraordinary Puerto Rican talent.”

The renovation also expands the resort’s ability to accommodate groups, meetings, conventions, weddings and other social events, alongside its leisure business.

"The evolution of this property into Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort reflects our commitment to continue strengthening the hotel offering in key Caribbean destinations," said Ricardo Echeverri, Vice President, Owner and Franchise Services for Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America. "Puerto Rico continues to attract travelers from around the world seeking authentic and memorable experiences, and this repositioning allows us to offer a more complete proposal that combines a privileged oceanfront location, a genuine connection with Puerto Rican culture and the renowned hospitality of Marriott Hotels.”

Local architects, designers, contractors, artists and suppliers were involved throughout the renovation. Puerto Rican influences have also been incorporated into the resort’s design, public spaces and culinary offerings.

“Today’s travelers are looking for much more than a place to stay; they seek memorable experiences that combine comfort, design, gastronomy and an authentic connection with the destination,” said Efraín Rosa, General Manager of Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort. “This evolution of the property allows us to meet those expectations while maintaining the warmth and hospitality that set our team apart.”

Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort participates in Marriott Bonvoy, allowing members to earn and redeem points on stays at the property.
