COVID travel requirements are disappearing quickly around the world. The United Kingdom is the latest, announcing the removal of almost all remaining restrictions as of March 18.
All international travellers, whether vaccinated or not, will be able to enter the UK without providing proof of a negative COVID-19 test or completing a passenger locator form.
Canadians and many other travellers will still have to deal with tests coming back into their home countries, but will no longer have to test in order to arrive in the UK.
Until now, the U.K. required unvaccinated travellers to test prior to travel and again post-arrival. Vaccinated travellers have been given entry test-free since late January. All travelers were also required to complete the passenger locator form.
Airports in the UK are also gearing up to drop face mask requirements this week, including Heathrow Airport, which said on Monday that it will still recommend people wear masks, but will no longer require them.
Major UK carriers, including British Airways, also said they would drop face mask requirements onboard, but only on flights from destinations with similar rules. For now, Canadian travellers will still be required to wear face masks during flights.
