Jamaica's Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre is working to coordinate the response after the devastating 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Haiti.
As reported in the Jamaica Gleaner, Jamaica's Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett expressed sympathy to the people of Haiti.
"These climatic events are showing us more and more, that vulnerable countries in the Caribbean need to be more prepared to manage and mitigate when then they occur," said Bartlett.
Nearly 1300 people have been killed as the country braces for Tropical Storm Grace scheduled to hit in the next couple of days.
The earthquake struck the southwestern part th island, a country already struggling with the coronavirus pandemic, a presidential assassination and a wave of gang violence.
