Happy Canadian faces are showing up more and more on the streets and in the hotels of Los Cabos. Perennially a favourite for Western Canadians, the resort town at the end of the Baja peninsula is now getting a boost thanks to direct flights from Toronto and Montreal.
“We’ve had strong, year-round air access from Western Canada for years, and that market continues to perform extremely well,” says Rodrigo Esponda, Managing Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board. “What we’re seeing now is acceleration from the East. Direct flights from Toronto have delivered the biggest gains. Now, airlift from Montreal represents a growth opportunity as access continues to expand.”
Numbers from the Los Cabos Tourism Board indicate 240,000 Canadians travelled to Los Cabos in 2025, representing a 20 percent increase over last year. Visitors originating from Toronto jumped 37 percent.
Canada is a key market for Los Cabos, our visitors travellers tend to stay longer and spend more than our American counterparts, with average stays of 10 nights, vs. 5.7 nights for American tourists.
January marks peak airlift from Canada, with 43 flights a week flying direct from eight cities: Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton, Kelowna, Victoria and Winnipeg.
“Canadians don’t want to connect through the U.S. The demand is already there, and we see it in the indirect travel numbers,” says Esponda. “Give them a direct flight, and they choose Los Cabos.”
