According to the Los Cabos Tourism Observatory, Canadian arrivals increased 12.2% in the first two months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, marking the fastest growth among all international markets.
Canada now accounts for 12.4% of all international visitors, making it the second-largest source market after the United States.
According to a press release, the growth is being driven by strong airlift from major cities like Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary, along with expanded service from secondary markets including Winnipeg, Victoria, and Kelowna.
Flight occupancy from Canada reached 90% this winter, reflecting a strong appetite for the Baja destination among Canadian travellers. Officials note rising interest in wellness getaways, private villa stays, and culinary travel.
“Canadian travellers are seeking more meaningful experiences, places where they feel safe, welcomed, and inspired,” said Rodrigo Esponda, Managing Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board.
“Los Cabos delivers that balance of exclusivity and authenticity. It's a destination that invites travellers to slow down, connect with nature, and rediscover themselves far from the crowds and complications of traditional sun spots.”
Several high-profile events are also expected to draw visitors in the coming months.
The San José Jazz Festival (May 23–24) brings live performances to the historic heart of San José del Cabo, while the Mifel Tennis Open (July 14–19), an ATP 250 series event, showcases top-tier tennis at the Cabo Sports Complex. In September, Mexican Independence Day celebrations will include parades, fireworks, and traditional music.
With strong advance bookings and growing interest from both leisure and luxury travellers, tourism officials expect the upward trend to continue through the rest of 2025.
