The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism returned to Toronto this week with a message: Canadian travellers don’t have to go far to find everything they’re looking for in a vacation.
On June 24, TravelPulse Canada attended a media reception at Hotel X Toronto, where the Honourable I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments, and Aviation, joined Director General Latia Duncombe to promote the latest developments from across the archipelago’s 16 major destinations.

The event followed a similar gathering in Montreal the previous evening.
Warming up the room, Minister Cooper jested, “As you see, we brought the Bahamian sun. We attempted to bring the beach, as well. Air Canada wasn’t having it.”
He continued, “We’ve had a long-standing relationship with Canada. We have had an office in Canada since 1968. We have shared a partnership with Air Canada now for 78 years.”

“We are so pleased to once again make the refreshingly brief journey to Canada, and once again connect with our friends and partners in this important market,” said Minister Cooper.

“We know that Canadians are both increasingly longing for travel and looking in new directions, but we want to remind them they don’t have to travel around the world to find what they are looking for. It’s all waiting for them in The Bahamas.”
Speaking to the Toronto audience, Cooper added, “Canadians simply love The Bahamas.”
Diverse Destination
Tourism officials highlighted the destination's diversity, ranging from upscale resorts and all-inclusive properties to more off-the-beaten-path, sustainable adventures in places like The Exumas, Freeport, and Nassau.

“The Bahamas is truly the most diverse experience in The Caribbean, and that unique element of our national character has never been lost on Canadians,” said Latia Duncombe.
“From our world-class snorkelling, sailing, and fishing, to our local culture and cuisine and that perfect balance of unspoiled nature and cosmopolitan charm, we take pride in our plurality. Whatever Canadians are looking for, they will find it on one of our islands.”
Record Year
The Bahamas is on track for another record year with Canadian travellers.
In 2024, the country welcomed 122,183 Canadian visitors.
