A new $260 million resort and residence development from luxury hotelier Aman is coming to the Exuma Islands in the Bahamas.

Details surrounding the development, named Amancaya, were released today by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation.

Amancaya will be the Aman brand's first property in the Bahamas. It will be spread across 400 acres of remote land on two private cays, and will feature a 36-pavilion resort, as well as a handful of Aman Residences. There will also be an Aman spa, beach club and a handful of signature dining concepts.

The project is expected to create more than 500 jobs. That figure includes 200 jobs created during construction and 300 permanent positions, according to local officials.

The Ministry of Tourism also lauded the project for supporting local entrepreneurs, expanding training opportunities, and driving long-term economic activity in Exuma.

“Aman’s entry into The Bahamas reflects the strength of our tourism sector as a premier luxury destination and the growing demand for eco-friendly sustainable development,” Chester Cooper MP, the deputy prime minister and minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, said.

“Aman’s ultra-luxury lifestyle brand is a good fit for Exuma and we look forward to the ground-breaking of this investment that will deliver meaningful, measurable long-term impact,” Cooper added.

Known for its luxury resorts, hotels and private residences, Aman currently operates 36 hotels, resorts and residence developments in 20 countries properties including in Tokyo, Kyoto, Venice, New York and elsewhere.
