MSC Cruises has set a new world record for the longest line of Lego ships ever assembled.

More than 1,000 crew members participated in the record attempt onboard MSC World America as the ship sailed from the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, to Miami, Florida. The ship will officially enter service on April 12.

Together, they assembled 1,391 Lego ships in a display that spanned 291 feet. The ships stretched from aft to forward along the ship’s World Galleria on Deck 6. The effort took just under two hours, as each ship took roughly 5 minutes to build.

A Guinness World Records adjudicator was onboard to watch the attempt unfold.

Last year, MSC Cruises began rolling out Guinness World Records entertainment across its fleet. Guests have attempted to break dozens of world records, such as the fastest to pull 100 metres of rope or the quickest to complete 20 chair rotations in under 21 seconds.

MSC Cruises’ partnership with Guinness World Records dates back to 2023; the company also has a long-standing partnership with Lego.

“MSC Cruises’ entertainment team is committed to expanding onboard experiences and taking them to the next level,” says Steve Leatham, vice president of entertainment for MSC Cruises. “We partner with the world’s top entertainment brands to create something truly magical.”
